CRAFT hosts several flagship annual events that bring together academia, industry, and government to advance microfluidics research
- CRAFT Research Symposium: As CRAFT’s premier annual gathering, the symposium highlights cutting-edge research in microfluidics, it features multiple keynote presentations by internationally renowned experts, trainee poster and podium sessions, and industry keynotes and exhibitors. Recent editions include:
- 2025: Held May 8–9 at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, Unity Health Toronto
- 2024: Held October 12 at the NRC Medical Devices Research Centre in Boucherville, Quebec
- 2023: Held February 22-23 at the Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship, University of Toronto
- 2021: Conducted virtually August 25–27
- Microfluidics Professional Course: A compact, immersive training program tailored for industrial and academic researchers new to microfluidics. In 2025, this three‑day July course in Toronto included nine morning lectures (e.g., fluid mechanics, scale‑up fabrication, organ‑on‑a‑chip, IP) and hands-on afternoon labs featuring lithography, injection molding, 3D printing, and advanced microscopy.
- Industry Open House: The CRAFT Open House aims to foster new partnerships by enabling CRAFT and companies to learn about each other’s expertise, capabilities, and challenges. Interested in joining? Please request an invitation by emailing partnerwithcraft@utoronto.ca.
- Other Events: CRAFT Hosts a number of events each year for the microfluidics community including special events such as our CRAFT 2.0 Launch event July 2024, invited speakers, panel discussions and our annual Ice Cream Social in August.
Together, these recurring events—an annual symposium, professional training courses, and periodic activities—underscore CRAFT’s commitment to community-building, knowledge exchange, and growth in microfluidic innovation.
