Guenther, Radisic and Wheeler Win Award for Championing CRAFT

Drs. Axel Guenther, Milica Radisic and Aaron Wheeler are the recipients of this year’s Safwat Zaky Research Leader Award in recognition of their efforts, in collaboration with Dr. Teodor Veres, to establish the Centre for Research and Applications in Fluidic Technologies (CRAFT).

The Safwat Zaky Research Leader Award is bestowed annually by the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Applied Sciences & Engineering to recognize “leadership in innovative interdisciplinary and multiple-investigator initiatives that have enhanced the Faculty’s research profile.”

CRAFT is a joint research centre of the University of Toronto and the National Research Council of Canada, which aims to develop new microfluidic technologies for health and translate them to hospitals and clinics. It includes researchers, projects and state-of-the-art facilities at both institutions.

Dr. Guenther is a co-Director of CRAFT, a co-Lead of CRAFT’s Biofabrication Research Pillar and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto. Dr. Teodor Veres is a co-Director of CRAFT and a Research Director at the National Research Council of Canada. Dr. Radisic co-leads CRAFT’s Organ-on-a-Chip Pillar, is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto and a Senior Scientist at the University Health Network. Dr. Aaron Wheeler co-leads CRAFT’s Diagnostic Pillar and is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto.

Congratulations to all of our leaders at CRAFT!
